I hope today's post finds everyone safe and warm after Sunday's storms. We had a mess, but nothing too tragic. Although our power only flickered a few times, many here are still without power, including Number One Son and Daughter in Love. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who were hit by this storm and the tornadoes. So many lost way more than I can imagine! I am beyond GRATEFUL that we only had minimal damage to our trees and none to our home. God is so good to us!
The sun is shining here, it's so beautiful and yet so deceiving! It's COLD! OooWee, stepped out onto the porch to get food for the critters and about froze my piggy's off! It's nice and warm in the house though, since I have the oven heating up. Why is the oven on you ask? I am going to be making some bread in a bit. I'll let you know how it turns out, maybe even post the recipe! I love the smell of homemade bread baking. It just makes my heart and tummy smile!
I had hoped, when I started this blog, that I would be able to write everyday. So far I have not been able to. Saturday, I entangled myself with cleaning out the barn, it's really an 8x10 shed, but I like to pretend I DON'T live in a mobile home community. Don't get me wrong, there is NOTHING wrong with living in a mobile home, I have lived in one for many of my adult years. My heart just longs to be on a larger scale space of my own, a few acres filled with animals, gardens, and lovely cozy places to rest. I truly believe I was not meant to be a city girl at all. My soul longs for country living. Anyway, I'm rambling, I ended up spending all day cleaning and reorganizing the barn and cleaning up the yard. Outdoor toys need to be put away for the season, and leaves needed tending to. Hubba Bubba raked and we made The Girl child come out and help bag them. It was quite the undertaking with her, she really isn't an outdoor work kinda girl, if you know what I mean. She doesn't like to get her hands dirty, LOL! My thing was, I just knew it needed to get done before the storms hit, which they did with a vengeance!
Sunday was spent going to church, after which there was a dinner (church folk can COOK!), so by the time we got home I was just in the mood to curl up and nap. Monday I spent a good portion of the morning cleaning up the mess left from the storms and the wind. I had to break it all up and drag it to the street, because luckily, Monday is waste pick up day. I had to work early and quickly, if I was going to get it all out before the compost guys came. I also picked up my elderly neighbors yard, she's in her 80's and isn't able to do work in her yard. Her name is Emogene, but we just call her Genie. I ended up with quite the pile at the street, and finished just in the nick of time. The guys were just pulling up. They definitely had their hands full, but they are great, hard working gentlemen.

I have more raking and clean-up to do today, with the help of Young Son when he gets home from school. Need to get it all finished, as next week is the last week for compost pick up for the season. I didn't bag up all the leaves, as I have a garden bed I am building and want to fill it up with leaves to compost over the winter. I will add pictures of it later on today. We also are going to rake and bag the remainder of Genie's leaves. It's supposed to rain the next two days, and then snow is predicted for this weekend. I also need to finish winterizing the windows. We have a lot of moisture in this place for some reason, so I decided to make charcoal sachets (I will post pics of them later) to put in the windowsills before covering them with plastic. So many things to do, and all I want to do is write!! With that said, I suppose I shall jump off and get to work! I hope you enjoy The View From My Window!
With love,
AndiLu
P.S. Be BLESSED and be a BLESSING to others, for you never know what someone else is going through!
